Summary

Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has taken most of us by surprise. It has put our lives on hold and our health in danger. Now, more than ever, information has to be transmitted faster in different languages to slow down and control this pandemic.

Translators and interpreters play key roles and support diverse players during these difficult times. Our services are needed by both small businesses up to governmental agencies and everything in between. They rely on us to communicate with people and help them navigate this health crisis.

During this two-hour webinar you will learn the fundamental:

  • Information about Coronavirus and COVID-19
  • Terminology of common signs and symptoms
  • Reliable medical resources to enhance your knowledge

 
Dr. Gloria M. Rivera

Dr. Gloria M. Rivera

Dr. Rivera was born and raised in Lima, Peru, where she received her medical degree and worked as a general practitioner and general surgeon.
After moving to the US, Gloria achieved a Professional Certificate of Translation and Interpretation at UCSD Extension where she started teaching medical translators and interpreters for said program.
In 2013, she became a Faculty Member of the National Center for Interpretation’s Agnese Haury Institute (University of Arizona) where she is a trainer and material developer for their medical and court programs. She has been a freelance translator and interpreter since 2010 and, recently, became a medical translator and interpreter for Stanford Healthcare in California.
Gloria is the founder and administrator of Medical Translator and Interpreting Crew, a Facebook Group where she shares all her experience and passion for language access with more than 7,000 members from around the world.
She is a Spanish Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI-Spanish and CHITM) and CA Certified Court Interpreter, conference interpreter, translator, editor, and instructor. In her spare time, she is the main instructor for Blue Urpi where she teaches practical webinars about medical topics, ethical principles, and practical skills for translators and interpreters.
Gloria is the proud recipient of CHIA’s 2018 Trainer of the Year Award.
