ATI WINTER WORKSHOP
How Bilingual Are You?
Polish that Pesky CI
(Fully interactive webinar via Zoom)
January 9, 2021 – 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Instructor: Prof. Karen Borgenheimer
This highly interactive language-neutral clinic will kick off with a self-evaluation of your bilingual proficiency based on the INTERAGENCY LANGUAGE ROUNDTABLE (IRL). The results may surprise you! Participants will then strategize on how to fill in their “language gaps” to become balanced bilinguals.
Now put your bilingualism to the test with hands-on, lively consecutive interpreting exercises to improve your consecutive interpreting (CI) technique in both the LEGAL and MEDICAL settings through:
- Memory – Visualization Skits
- Notetaking Tips
- Intonation and Expression Practice
Learning to combine these 3 elements is challenging, but the result is ACCURACY. Participants will polish these skills with CI materials created from real life situations and designed for both legal and medical interpreters.
Prepare to learn, laugh, AND improve your interpreting skills!
