Have you ever dreamed about getting paid to watch movies? Have you ever had a nightmare from worrying about how exactly to handle your income taxes as a language services freelancer or employee?

At our Winter Workshop in January, Ms. Dietlinde Bamberger DuPlessis will present her experiences as an audiovisual translator and answer your questions about professional subtitling. Then, Ms. Monica Ferreira will inform us with a timely presentation about taxes for language services freelancers and employees. Light breakfast provided and optional no-host social “meetup” to follow at nearby pizzeria.

Paid to Watch Movies? The Facts About Audiovisual Translation

Dietlinde Bamberger DuPlessis obtained a degree in Technical Translation from the University of Hildesheim in her native country Germany. Before attending she university, she spent one year in England, and during her studies, 6 months in Barcelona, Spain as well as 9 months in El Paso, Texas. After 20 years in corporate communications of various international listed companies in Germany she moved to Tucson, Arizona in 2015 and started freelancing as an audiovisual translator for English and Spanish video content. In her free time she maintains her stock photography portfolios and tries to grow plants in the desert.

Tax Time

Monica Ferreira, BA, ECE, RTRP, carries her studies in Business Administration from Universidad Central de Chile, complimenting it with ongoing training derived from the U.S. Federal Treasury Division, aka, I.R.S. , as a Registered Tax Practitioner.

In the midst of her studies she became a Mother, which induced her to pick up studies in Early Childhood Education. Placing her skills to use, and her personal experience as a self-employed parent. She opened and operated a bilingual preschool program for a little over 6 yrs locally in Chandler, Arizona.

During this period she frequently found herself guiding and assisting others in their businesses, to be in compliance as accordingly to our State & Federal regulations.

Monica is a local Small Business owner as Taxes Let’s Do!, offering  full time counseling in the areas of Business Start-up, Bookkeeping and Taxation. Occasionally stands in as an independent contractor as a Bilingual Notary Signing agent and, for Spanish-English finance interpretations.

With 17 plus years in the field of Taxes she hopes to Inform and answer questions of her fellow Translators and Interpreters. She is always excited to support a peer in their current or new endeavors!
