College Programs for court and medical interpreters and translators

  • Pima Community College – this is an Associate of Applied Arts in interpretation and translation studies for Spanish speakers.
  • Estrella Mountain Community College – a 24-week program in medical interpreting for Spanish and English speakers. The SWSC at EMCC is the only testing center in Arizona to offer the national oral certification exam for Healthcare Interpreters through the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI).
  • SBA program (Phoenix Children’s Hospital) – The Spanish Bilingual Assistant is an 80-hour program for Spanish and English speakers wishing to become Spanish Medical Interpreters.
