Below is a list of the most up-to-date codes of ethics that apply to the translation and interpreting professions. Some differences exist between the codes, but in the end, they all emphasize the importance of accuracy, confidentiality, and impartiality.
The Arizona Translators & Interpreters (ATI) strongly advocates that all working translators and interpreters endorse and comply with a code of ethics.
- A National Code of Ethics for Interpreters in Health Care issued by the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC)
- Arizona Court Interpreter Code of Conduct issued by the Arizona Court Interpreter Credentialing Program (ACICP)
- California Standards for Healthcare Interpreters issued by the California Healthcare Interpretation Association (CHIA)
- Code of Ethics and Professional Practice issued by the American Translators Association (ATA)
- Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibilities issued by the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters & Translators (NAJIT)
- Code of Ethics issued by the Arizona Court Interpreters Association (ACIA)
- International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA) Code of Ethics
- International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA) Standards of Practice
- National Standards of Practice for Interpreters in Health Care issued by the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC)
- Standard Guide for Quality Assurance in Translation issued by ASTM International
